by Eric Gathoni

Eyeglasses for Every Face Shape
Picking the right shape for your spectacles frames can make a massive difference to the look of your face. Eyeglass styles are such that while they may fit some kind of trend, they are also very personal to the wearer. Some eyeglass frames may look bulky on some people, while others may make a person look chubbier, depending on the shape of one’s head. Let’s take a look at which kinds of eyeglass styles commonly suit a wide variety of people.

Types of face shapes

Types of face shapes

There are a few basic face shapes wherein the basic features are very similar, although the intricacies may differ.

1. Round

These consist of wide features that are more or less the same width through the length of the face. Round faces also have fuller cheeks, soft facial curves, and very few jutting angles.

2. Oval

Oval faces consist of a longer forehead, high cheekbones, and a more pronounced chin with a generally narrower structure.

3. Square

With bold features that quite often make cutting angles at the edges, square faces are highly proportionate from top to bottom with more defined features.

4. Heart

Heart-shaped faces resemble the hearts we draw on paper: wide forehead and high cheekbones while narrowing towards the bottom with a smaller chin.

5. Diamond

An angular jawline, a narrow forehead, and wide, high and highly defined cheekbones are how we characterize diamond faces.

6. Triangular

Similar to diamond faces, triangular faces have a narrow forehead and a wide jawline. They’re different from diamond faces because the cheekbones are not as defined and thus create a triangular look.

7 glasses frames that fit most face shapes

Faces that have similar features, such as triangular and square, round and heart-shaped, and so on, can wear the same kinds of glasses and really pull them off. However, there are some styles of glasses that will not be trendy, and this is primarily because they suit almost every face shape. Let’s take a look at some of the types of fashion glasses that complement a wide variety of face shapes.

1. Cat-Eye Glasses

The structure of cat-eye glasses is such that they frame the face of each wearer. They are perfect for all kinds of people because they are rounded but also provide a pointed tip towards the corner. This provides a chic look that frames all types of faces very well. Cat-eye glasses especially look great on round faces because they accentuate the cheekbones with their upward sweep.

2. Thin-Rimmed Glasses

Glasses with narrow rims have been trending for quite a while now. They are only advantageous because they give the wearer a subtle and classy look. Thin-rimmed eyeglasses in golden and silver are the most commonly chosen ones, though other colors look fantastic too.

3. Rimless Eyewear

Another newly trending classic style of eyewear, rimless glasses, is as classy as it gets. These types of glasses frames give any face a clean look while still serving the purpose of spectacles. With any face shape and eyeglass shape, a rimless outline makes one look smart and serious.

4. Aviators

When we think of men’s sunglasses or women’s sunglasses, aviators sunglasses are usually the first style to come to mind. They are generally the ‘classic’ sunglasses we think of; in fact, they are a prominent part of our summer essentials. In recent trends, however, aviators are also commonly being used for regular eyewear such as reading glasses and so on. This is because they fit all face shapes and sizes and make each wearer look good regardless.

5. Geometric Glasses

Glasses that have polygonal shapes with lots of vertices give each wearer a very unique and angular look. This is one of its greatest functions because it simply shapes each face in a highly flattering manner. You will find geometric glasses most commonly with thin rims, thus adding a classier look as well.

6. Wayfarers

Wayfarers are rectangular spectacles that generally angle obtusely towards the outer edges and make for fantastic width-matching. Like aviators, wayfarers are also one of the most popular sunglasses styles that have recently started to be adapted to regular eyewear. Being rectangular, they are not only very flattering to any face shape but are also highly versatile and adaptable in their design.

7. Rounded Glasses

Most face shapes are great canvases for rounded glasses that come in full circles as well as other circular shapes. While mostly looking best on faces with sharper features, rounded glasses are flattering to all face types. These kinds of glasses have a way of complimenting the cheekbones as well as the forehead.
