Delivery Time

1-3 Day Delivery, depending on the day and time ordered. For example, If ordered before 3pm between Monday-Friday, your order will typically arrive the next day anytime before noon (12pm) within Nairobi.

We will deliver ordered items to the exact address provided for delivery. Please ensure your address is up to date. We will not be liable for any outcome that results from an incorrect address provided. In the case of an inaccurate address, the Customer will be responsible for any additional delivery charges and possible delay in delivery time.

When your order has been picked for delivery, you will receive a confirmation email with your Waybill number for tracking. This email will include a direct link to track your package.

If you have had an eye test at Optica before, you may call us at +254 709 709 000 or email us at support@optica.co.ke and we will provide you with your prescription.

After an order has been placed it cannot be changed.

Goods once sold are neither returnable nor refundable.

Acceptance of the product/s will be deemed to be upon receipt by you and in any event within 6 hours after delivery. Thereafter Optica will not be held liable for any damages/issues with the product/s delivered.  

If you would like to claim a return or refund, please send an email with details and photos (where applicable) to support@optica.africa within the 6 hour window.

Products that carry warranties will have valid warranties according to the terms and conditions of the brand/s purchased.

All of our frames come with a standard manufacturers warranty, which covers any possible defect that can be reasonably attributed to manufacturers responsibility and not as a result of normal wear and tear, accidental damage or mishandling.

Many studies connect prolonged screen time with eye discomfort and strain. Dry eyes can be a prominent symptom of excessive screen time, and it is caused due to infrequent blinking. To minimize this condition and general eye discomfort, you need to look for eyeglasses that filter blue light. These eyeglasses have lenses that help block blue light penetration that comes from your digital devices. Along with having suitable eyewear, it is recommended that when using a computer, you should decrease the display brightness, increase the font size, minimize the glare, and take a 20-minute break from looking at your screen.

You can follow these simple steps to determine if your eyeglass frames fit you well:

1. Check the frame width, it should not go past your cheekbones. If you can fit more than one finger between your temple and the eyeglass arm, then they are too wide for your face. Additionally, if the arm touches your temple then the frame is narrow.

2. The arm length should extend behind your ears, and only touch the side of your head (in front of the ears). Also, the arms must not curve too early because they will push the glasses down.

3. The bridge width will help the spectacles sit comfortably on your face. If it is too tight then it will affect your vision because it will sit too high on your face. If the bridge is loose then it will keep sliding down your nose and will need frequent adjustment.

If comfort is a priority for you, then we recommend that you choose plastic frames over metal ones. Plastic frames have a lightweight design, and they are quite beneficial to individuals who are allergic to metal frames like nickel. If you are set on getting comfortable metal frames, then look for titanium frames. They are light, hold their shape well, and can support heavy lenses that have a high prescription; also, metal frames don’t need constant readjusting. You can always consult with us in-store on the best frame material for you.

When looking for durable eyeglasses, you need to check two factors which are material and lenses. Usually, the frames are either made from metal or plastic. Generally, metal frames are said to be sturdy and durable. The two popular metal frames are titanium and flexon. In the end, titanium metal eyeglass frames are said to be the most durable since they are strong and low maintenance. However, plastic frames are also now made with very durable and sustainable plastic.

There are many eyeglass frame options available online, but you have to keep certain specifications in mind when choosing the perfect one. When choosing the right spectacle frames, you must understand your face shape. Yes, you can. Most optical shops will upgrade your lenses in your old frames, for you. This is usually done when the prescription of the lenses has changed. Additionally, most people prefer replacing the lenses and keeping their old frames, rather than changing the frames as well, as it is an affordable option.

Yes, maybe not drastically, but your eyeglasses can change shape over time. The fit will begin to feel loose around your head and slip down your nose constantly. If your frames are starting to feel loose, you can bend the temple tips slightly downwards. If you are afraid of damaging your spectacles, then you can visit an optician and they will adjust the fit for you.

If you go for eyeglasses with nose pads, you will find that they have a better fit. However, glasses without nose pads will provide a decent fit too, as long as the frames are measured properly and adjusted well. It also depends on the nose pad material, some are made from hard plastic, while others are quite soft. Just ensure that you have the correct eyeglass measurements when deciding on nose pads.

Polarized lenses eliminate and prevent any glare that bounces off a flat surface, and they are used in sunglasses for boating, skiing, fishing, and driving. Polarized lenses will help filter light and eliminate polarized light. Therefore, it will result in the ability to see the light in a pure state. This means you will see objects in a sharper, natural, and defined way. Polarized lenses will allow you to see colours with clarity, and you don't have to squint or strain your eyes to get a better view.

It's always a good idea to invest in a good pair of sunglasses, rather than settling for a cheap pair that won't protect your eyes. Sunglasses of poor quality that don't provide the necessary protection from UV rays will cause your pupils to dilate because of the darkness of the sunglasses lens and allow UV rays to penetrate your eyes. An example of this is the sunglasses you can buy from street vendors. This is harmful because it will increase the risk of developing conditions like retinal tissue damage, cataracts, and macular degeneration.

The sun's rays are most potent between 11 am and 3 pm, but that doesn't mean you shouldn’t shield your eyes during other times of the day. Glare and reflections can be a hindrance to your eyesight too. So, always have your sunglasses ready whether you are taking a stroll or going for a drive.

There are many kinds of sunglasses available in the market, and it's always a good idea to consult with an optician before you make your decision. You can choose from different tints and shapes that will help you see better in specific conditions, and your optician can help you decide on the shade that is best for you. Polarized lenses provide comfort because they reduce the glare that is brought about by bright lights that reflect off flat surfaces

Gradient sunglass lenses are tinted from the top, all the way down. Hence, the top portion of the lens is the darkest. These lenses are great for driving because they will shield your eyes from overhead sunlight and allow more light.

There is no standard lens colour considered the best; it's more of a personal choice. Colour doesn't affect the protection you get from UV light. Gray and brown sunglass lenses are great options because they don't distort colour perception. Athletes tend to select contrast-enhancing lens colours for their sunglasses because they work well in low light, reduce haze, and increase contrast, resulting in a sharper image.

For your comfort and safety, it is highly recommended that you choose impact-resistant lenses. Choose ones that are impact-resistant and scratch-resistant; for instance, polycarbonate lenses are the best choice for sunglasses because they are lightweight and durable. They are more impact-resistant compared to lenses made from glass
